-Presidency asked I stand with Buhari group to stop promoting their activities dropping the name of his wife -Buhari said it’s too early to celebrate the achievements of his government

President Muhammadu Buhari has distanced self from the activities of the organization “I stand with Buhari.” The activities of the group have recently sparked online controversy. The presidency in a statement issued on March 25, Friday, said: “The #IStandWithBuhari group should stop dropping the name of the president’s wife, Aisha Buhari, to promote its activities.”

“President Buhari does not believe in premature and ostentatious celebration of his government’s successes. While the present administration has indeed recorded significant successes in its priority areas of improving security across the nation, ending the Boko Haram insurgency, curbing official corruption and revamping Nigeria’s economy, President Buhari is well aware that his government still has a lot of national challenges to overcome.” #IStandWithBuhari leader Maryam Shetty has claimed that nine million man march is now suspended. A fundraising letter that the group supposedly sent to the leaders of the All Progressives Congress became the subject of the controversy. The group has been blamed for attempting to seek more than one billion naira from wealthy Nigerians to fund their marches, with a letter purporting to be from the group circulating on social media. The money, according to a document that is currently circulating online, is meant to transport nine million Nigerians to Abuja on March 31, 2016 for what the group defined as an anti-corruption day affirmation march. Nigerians on social media are divided in their response to the group and are using the hash tag as its vehicle to pass judgment on Buhari’s work so far.

Some have given clear commendations for the former military ruler.
